SigSD4 Audio Module
Overview
The SigSD4-SODIMM audio module provide small-form factor 4-channel 16-bit
sigma-delta analog I/O solution compatible with the
SigC54xx and
SigC67xx PC104 boards. By
providing dedicated analog I/O in the SODIMM form-factor, a completely modular
approach can be utilized for the DSP component in telecom infrastructure applications.
Analog I/O data can be routed directly to multiple DSP devices via high-speed TDM serial
bitstream, and thus increase system performance and efficiency. The modular approach also
creates flexibility in configuring the number of analog I/O channels vs. DSP processors,
and allowing customer upgrades to more voice or audio channels. Below are some features of
the SigSD4-SODIMM audio module:
- 4-channel 16-bit sigma-delta analog input/output. The
sigma-delta converters provide sharp anti-alias and reconstruction filter roll-off, and
nearly ideal linear phase response.
- sampling rates and filter cutoff frequencies are software programmable; all channels are
sampled simultaneously
- TDM (time division multiplex, or multi-drop) serial output allows distribution of
multichannel audio data to one or more DSP processors; audio data can be replicated among
processors, or distributed uniformly, as needed
- analog input/output signals can be routed directly on to the module using a
small-outline Mictor 38-pin connector and high-density cable; a
Mictor-DB37 adapter is available to break without audio I/O signals to convenient
connector compatible RCA phono or BNC connectors
Module Descriptions
The SigSD4 module contain (2) CS4218 16-bit sigma-delta codec
devices. Each codec device is a monolithic stereo (2-channel) A/D and D/A converter, with
built-in anti-alias input filters and reconstruction output filters. All channels are
sampled simultaneously.
The SigSD4 audio module provide a selection of sampling rates (including 8
kHz speech rate), input gain, and output attenuation under software control. See
Specifications section below for details.
When used with
SigC54xx and
SigC67xx
board, the SigSD4 audio module is fully supported by
the following off-the-shelf software development packages:
The DirectDSP sofware includes support for popular host programming environments,
including
MATLAB®, C/C++ (MSVC and Borland), Visual Basic, and
LabVIEW. See
Software Support below for more information.
